Solo Practice University

My name is Jay Foonberg

I am teaching two courses this year for Solo Practice University.

You can watch me doing one of two CLE presentations for the Guam Bar Association done in 2008 and 2009 in Guam, two of the more than 1,000 presentations I have done over a period of 40 years for lawyers throughout the world in every state and on every continent.

My books for lawyers have sold more than 150,000 copies and are continually updated.

It has been estimated that through my books and CLE presentations I have reached almost a half million lawyers.

At every program I do, lawyers ask questions of me and of each other and often offer their own solutions to problems.

These questions and the solutions become the basis of my books and teaching.

The courses I teach are not theoretical. They represent real life situations faced by real life lawyers in real life practice and offer real life solutions.

I invite you to join me here at Solo Practice University where I will teach two courses not taught in law school, both of which are critical for a successful law practice. These courses are:

  1. Client Relations 101 the basics in getting and keeping good clients. Clients who are cooperative, pay their bills, are grateful for your help, refer other good clients to you and do not file ethics or malpractice complaints against you. More than 50% of ethics complaints and 70% of malpractice complaints never would have been filed had the lawyer followed the Nine Steps To A Successful Law Practice which I will teach you.
  2. Ethics and Professionalism 101 This course will emphasize the many ethical problems faced daily by solos and small firm lawyers. We will concentrate on recognizing and resolving the ethical problems at an early stage before the lawyer has done a lot of work that will never get paid for and which could result in disciplinary charges. Trust Accounts, Permissible and non permissible Fee Agreements, Conflicts, Multi Client representation and email issues will be covered.

The problems will be real life and the solutions will be real life.
